Donald Trump, the president-elect, declared via Truth Social Roman Pipko will be the next U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia, and Morgan Ortagus, a former spokesperson for the State Department, will be the Deputy Special Presidential Envoy for Middle East Peace on Friday night.
Trump revealed in a post on Friday afternoon that Ortagus will report to Steven Witkoff, a New York real estate magnate who was chosen to serve as the Middle East envoy in November.
Trump wrote in the post, “I hope Morgan has learned her lesson after fighting me for three years.” “Usually, these things don’t work out, but she has a lot of Republican support, and I’m doing this for them, not for myself. Let’s observe what occurs.
She will “hopefully” be a benefit to Witkoff, he continued.
“We seek to bring calm and prosperity to a very troubled region,” the president wrote. “I expect great results, and soon!”
Ortagus, a current intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, was a member of Trump’s Abraham Accords team while working as a spokesperson at the Department of State from 2019 to 2021.
She previously held the position of Deputy U.S. Treasury Attaché to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 2010 to 2011 and was a financial intelligence analyst at the Department of the Treasury.
In addition, she hosts “The Morgan Ortagus Show” on Sirius XM and founded Polaris National Security.
Born and raised in Estonia, Pipko represented American interests in the Russian American Enterprise Fund and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
“Roman has represented American companies, negotiating projects in Mongolia, Africa, Russia, Western Europe, and his native Estonia, in cooperation with U.S. Government Agencies, and has worked with Foreign Governments on the enforcement of U.S. sanctions,” Trump stated. “As a legal immigrant, he has lived the promise of America, and I trust that he will advance American interests in his new role.”
Pipko has degrees from Yale Law School and Columbia University.
